Indoor miniature golf course proposed for Square One Mall in Saugus

A U.S. Marine is seeking to operate an indoor miniature golf course at the Square One Mall.

Douglas Molina has applied for a special permit to allow a place of amusement offering mini-golf. He plans to call the business Seven Wonders and it would be located on the lower level of the Square One Mall near Macy’s.

A public hearing for the proposed miniature golf course is scheduled for the Nov. 14 Board of Selectmen meeting.

In a letter addressed to town officials, Molina explained that his concept is for an indoor mini glow golf course.

“It is a fun experience for families to make long-lasting memories,” Molina wrote.

The hours at Seven Wonders would be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. to dovetail with when the Square One Mall is open.

Molina holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Northeastern University and has owned other businesses such as a restaurant in the past, he explained in his letter.

Molina did not relate in his correspondence to the selectmen how many holes the miniature golf course would feature.

Seven Wonders would be Molina’s second glow-in-the-dark miniature golf course location. The first is the 18-hole Aloha Mini Glow Golf at the Northshore Mall.

Aloha Mini Glow Golf was inspired by Molina’s service as a U.S. Marine stationed in Kaneohe Bay where he spent five years soaking up the beauty of Hawaii, according to the business’s website.
