TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBMA) — Starting this fall, Tuscaloosa will have a new place to go for adventure,”Shindig”. The developer says it’ll be the perfect place for families, students, and friends to hangout.
You can’t tell now, but in just a few months, the red dirt piles will become the site of Shindig, a family fun center. The developer, Steve Williams, says there’s no place in Tuscaloosa like it.
Williams says the first idea was a bowling alley, but he decided to think bigger and outside the box.
Shindig will feature not only 28 bowling lanes (8 of them for private use), but blacklight golf with 3D glasses, putt putt, 3D laser tag, arcade games, axe throwing, and an upstairs stage for live music and entertainment.
The idea comes after Williams says he spent over 100 hours at seminars to learn what would work best.
“Different bowling expos and laser tag expos and all that kind of stuff. Like I said, we started this in 2008,” says Williams.
He says he hopes the name Shindig, which means party, means his customers will come on down in October to party.
He also hopes to add indoor go kart racing further down the line.
Williams says because of the recession in 2008, the project was delayed, and has been in the making for eleven years.
Now, he’s looking forward to giving the people of Tuscaloosa a place where everyone in the family can come and have fun.
There will be a groundbreaking at Shindig in just a few weeks.
The venue is on McFarland Boulevard just across the street from Tuscaloosa Ford.
