TURNERSVILLE – A longtime bowling alley has changed lanes.
Brunswick Zone in Turnersville is now Bowlero, and celebrated its transformation at a grand opening event on Nov. 2.
The location is the second Bowlero to open in Gloucester County. The Brunswick Zone in Deptford was rebranded as Bowlero in July, but that wasn’t a full conversion like the Turnersville location, a company spokeswoman said.
The newest site emphasizes the entertainment experience, with 40 blacklight lanes, lane-side lounge seating and huge high-definition video walls, according to a news release.
Retro style, an expansive arcade, and oversized food and drink options also are part of the overhaul.
Bowlero’s arcade features 40 games, including “Tomb Raider,” “Connect 4” and “The Giant Crane,” plus classics such as air hockey, basketball and a photo booth.
Food options are also big: There’s the XXL Pretzel, 2-foot-long Mega Dog and 100-ounce-plus cocktails like the Dunk Tank and the Mega Mule. The bar serves a wide selection of wine and craft beers too.
Bowlero, which bills itself as “bowling’s coolest brand,” strives to be an event destination. The Turnersville site has an in-house team of professional event planners that can assist with parties and corporate events.
The quickly growing Bowlero Corp. was founded in 2013 as Bowlmor AMF. With 300 locations under the Bowlmor Lanes, Bowlero, AMF and Brunswick Zone brands, it’s now the world’s largest owner and operator of bowling entertainment centers, according to the company website.
Other Bowlero locations in New Jersey include Hazlet, North Brunswick, Wallington, Fair Lawn and Green Brook.
Bowlero’s newest location is at 100 American Blvd. in Turnersville. Hours are Monday, 10 a.m. to midnight; Tuesday, 9 a.m. to midnight; Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday, noon to 1 a.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 a.m.; and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
