Incredible Pizza Company to open in Shawnee with new attractions, including company’s first beer and wine bar

Incredible Pizza Company is slated to open next week at 13110 W. 62nd Terrace in Shawnee.

Incredible Pizza Company, a family entertainment center company based in Springfield, Missouri, is a few days away from opening a new location in Shawnee, the company’s 10th location in North America.

Located at 13110 W. 62nd Terrace, the 82,000 square foot site was formerly PowerPlay Entertainment Center. Incredible Pizza Company plans to open by Monday or Tuesday.

Rick Barsness, founder and owner of Incredible Pizza Company, said he had been looking for a location in the Kansas City market for the past 10 years.

Jason Sosnowski (left), managing partner, and Rick Barsness, founder and owner, are putting on the final touches for the new center.

The company has “gutted” the whole facility and made a $4 million remodel. All of the games and kitchen spaces are also new. The themes for the space are 1950s era, a main part of the company’s brand.“When this property became available, it was a perfect match for us because the space was built for family entertainment,” Barsness said. “We can hold 2,000 people in this building.”

“We really want people to know that it is totally changed,” Barsness added.

The location will feature nine rides and attractions including Barsness’s favorites, glow-in-the-dark go-kart track and the scrambler ride. Plus, the center will have more than 100 video arcade and redemption games, an event center for up to 150 people and the company’s main attraction, a buffet of 150 items, including pizzas, pastas, tacos, salad bar and a chocolate fountain.

The 82,000 square foot space will feature nine attractions, including bumper cars.

“We’re very family-friendly, all about the families,” Barsness said. One of the dining areas is also set up like a drive-in theater and will regularly feature movies from the 50s.

And some of the concepts in the new center are unique to the Shawnee center, not found in the company’s other locations. The Porch, a beer and wine bar featuring Boulevard, and a Tiny Town for small children who can play all day for a one-time fee, are some of these new concepts.

“It’s the same brand as all our other locations, we just do a little tweaking on each one,” he said. “We learn from every location that we build, and we try new things. We’re specializing in something for the whole family.”

Tentative hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
